Our 2022 Community Campaign was a success!

Election results are rolling in and Unite Oregon Action is proud to share the work of our Community Campaign! So much was at stake during the midterm elections nationally and locally from reproductive rights, to access to health care, community safety, and so much more. But our members fought back to keep Oregon a safe and inclusive state.

With Tina Kotek winning the Governor’s seat, we know that Oregon remains a haven for the issues we organize and advocate for within our Six Pillars. We have also won a majority in both the House and the Senate that reflect our community member’s values. This moment in our state’s history is a reason to celebrate!

Unite Oregon Action’s Community Campaign rallied for 17 days straight. In that time, we hosted over 30 events, completed roughly 100 shifts, and made 5,000 community contacts! This year we also had the opportunity to stipend our members for their time and look forward to continuing this tradition. Community organizing is the foundation of our work, and this election cycle made it clear that people power is the greatest strength in Oregon.

We believe that voting is not a means to an end - it is an organizing strategy to get us closer to our vision of a unified intercultural movement for justice in Oregon. As an organization led by immigrants and refugees, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, rural communities, and people experiencing poverty, we know that voting is one of many strategies in ensuring that we gain fair representation in our government.

Oregon is facing critical issues and we need elected leaders who understand these struggles firsthand, those who come from impacted communities themselves and share our lived experiences. This year, we uplifted 20 candidates, 13 of which are Black, Indigenous, People Of Color. We are thrilled to share our slate of endorsements that will soon be taking office:
