Ballot Measure Recommendations
Measure 115 - Impeachment, Recommended Yes Vote
We support this ballot measure because it holds executives accountable by allowing them to be removed/impeached if they are not compliant with their duties.
Measure 116 - Salary Commission, Recommended Yes Vote
We support Measure 116 because it makes running for office more affordable. State elected officials are paid at a rate that assumes you can maintain a full-time job outside the role, which is very difficult. State legislators get paid ~32k; the governor gets paid ~94k, some of the lowest rates in the country. This leads to candidates having the privilege of not needing a full-time job.
Measure 117 - Ranked Choice Voting, Recommended Yes Vote
We support Measure 117 because it eliminates the culture of voting for the lesser of two evils to retain the power of our vote. In this format, all votes matter, and folks can vote according to their values.
Measure 118 - Oregon Rebate, Recommended No Vote
We oppose Measure 118 because it is a monolith approach to economic support and directly contradicts our fight for equity. It would give everyone the same rebate amount rather than tailoring it to individuals' incomes. It also takes it straight from the state's general fund, which means we would lose money for community programs. Additionally, how it is currently written could make it so some community members would be ineligible to receive SNAP benefits and other state-run financial assistance programs. We support the idea of rebates, universal income, and so forth, but this ballot measure takes the wrong approach.
Measure 119 - Cannabis Worker Bargaining Rights, Recommended Yes Vote
We support Measure 119 because we believe all workers should have the right to unionize and be properly represented and defended in the workforce. Being that the recreational cannabis workforce is so new, several mishaps have been occurring and negatively impacting the workers.
